Join the Global HeForShe Universities Webinar to Advance Gender Equality in Higher Education

On Wednesday, 22 April 2026, UN Women’s HeForShe initiative will host a global virtual webinar bringing together universities, faculty, and student leaders committed to advancing gender equality through higher education. Taking place at 9:00 AM ET, the session will serve as a platform for collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and collective action across academic institutions worldwide. 

As a flagship initiative of UN Women, HeForShe mobilizes men and boys as active allies for gender equality, with the HeForShe Alliance uniting leaders across sectors to drive systemic change. Within this ecosystem, universities play a critical role. As centers of research, innovation, and intellectual leadership, they are uniquely positioned to shape social norms, influence institutional cultures, and develop inclusive models of leadership that extend far beyond campus. 

The upcoming webinar will highlight how universities are advancing transformative change through their engagement with HeForShe. Participants will explore a range of approaches, from institutional commitments within the Alliance to student-led initiatives, applied consultancy projects, and grassroots movements that amplify impact in communities. 

Designed for university leadership, faculty, and students, the session will offer both practical insights and forward-looking perspectives. Attendees will gain a deeper understanding of how collaboration with HeForShe can strengthen institutional strategies, enhance research and knowledge production, and foster environments where inclusive excellence can thrive. 

The programme will feature an overview of HeForShe’s engagement with higher education, followed by case studies from partner universities showcasing lessons learned, measurable impact, and the value of multistakeholder collaboration. Student voices will also be central to the discussion, offering first-hand perspectives on how HeForShe initiatives shape leadership development, academic experiences, and campus engagement. 

As UN Women advances its Strategic Plan 2026–2029, partnerships with universities remain central to expanding the reach and impact of the HeForShe movement. By bridging research, advocacy, and student engagement, higher education institutions are helping to shape a more inclusive and equitable future.
