HeForShe is the best reflection of the growing realisation that gender equality is our shared responsibility and potentially our shared reward. I am grateful to those whose leadership has led to the results laid out in this annual report.

New York, September 23, 2025 — The HeForShe Alliance today unveiled its 2025 IMPACT Report at the HeForShe Summit in New York, held under the theme of Equitable Masculinities and Safe Digital Spaces. As the world marks the 30th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, the most ambitious global agenda for gender equality ever adopted, the HeForShe IMPACT report offers a timely reflection on both transformative progress and urgent challenges, especially in the online sphere.
Since its adoption by 189 governments in 1995, the Beijing Platform has guided global action to achieve a more inclusive, peaceful, and prosperous world. Thirty years later, UN Women’s Beijing+30 review shows significant gains, with 88 per cent of countries enacting laws to address violence against women and most banning workplace discrimination. Yet the review also reveals a rising backlash in nearly one-quarter of countries, compounded by the COVID-19 pandemic, climate crises, conflict, and a surge in online misogyny. The 2025 IMPACT Report highlights how the HeForShe Alliance is addressing these challenges head-on.
Investment, Reach, Impact:
The HeForShe Alliance members invested more than $2.59 billion in gender-equity initiatives across Africa.
These efforts have reached nearly 40 million individuals, with 1.24 million direct beneficiaries, primarily women and girls.
Key sectors addressed include GBV prevention, digital access to support services, STEM education, and economic empowerment.
This year’s report places particular emphasis on online safety, spotlighting the troubling rise of online ecosystems spreading misogyny, disinformation, and regressive gender norms. Research by HeForShe Champion Movember shows that 63 per cent of young men in the US, UK, and Australia engage with online “masculinity influencers,” with nearly 27 per cent reporting negative impacts such as increased anxiety, feelings of worthlessness, and adoption of anti-feminist beliefs. A separate study by Team Lewis in support of HeForShe found that 80 per cent of Gen Z and 76 per cent of Millennials are concerned about sexist rhetoric on social media.
In response, the HeForShe Alliance has reaffirmed its commitment to engaging men and boys as allies in the push for gender equality with a joint open letter calling for action against online misogyny, ensuring that progress toward gender equality extends into the digital world.
“As HeForShe Alliance members, we are acting with resolve. We are delivering on bold targets for gender-balanced leadership and demanding inclusive spaces, we are transforming workplace norms and challenging online abuse, we lead with a sense of urgency and transparent accountability. We continue to pursue pay equity objectives and we refuse to participate in forums that exclude women and marginalized voices. We push forward for gender equality with action—committed to building safer workplaces, stronger representation, and a global culture of visible, vocal allyship.”
— HeForShe Champions Joint Statement
The 2025 IMPACT Report captures how collective action, institutional leadership, and allyship can deliver measurable change. It reflects not only the progress made, but the ambition needed to secure a safer, more equitable, and more inclusive future for all.
