In the beginning of 2023 two organizations partnered with male leaders in Lesotho to initiate men’s dialogues to discuss and find solutions to the factors that drive violence against women and girls and HIV infections in the Southern African nation. 
 
UN Women South Africa Multi-Country Office, enabled by funds from UNAIDS Unified Budget, Results and Accountability Framework (UBRAF), supported women’s rights organization Gem Institute Lesotho and the Christian Council of Lesotho (CCL).  

2023 has been a pivotal year for HeForShe, marking significant strides in the global movement for gender equality. In the face of pushback against women’s rights and intersecting challenges from climate change to anti-gender movements, HeForShe has continued to build a solidarity movement of men and boys who stand alongside women and girls in all their diversity in the pursuit of a better, gender equal world for everyone.

The HeForShe Alliance took center stage at COP28, strategically engaging in a mission to propel gender-responsive climate action to the forefront. The vision: to ensure that the rights and interests of women and girls, in all their diversity, become integral to every facet of climate initiatives deliberated and implemented.

The fifth annual Gender Equality in UK Policing Report once again comes in support of the United Nations’ gender equality campaign, HeForShe.

UN Women has launched its annual campaign on the International Day to End Violence against Women, marked on 25 November. In a remarkable display of commitment to gender equality, Scottish Police Rugby men's national team recently took to the pitch proudly displaying the HeForShe banner during the Four Nations Police Rugby Tournament. Looking to tackle misogyny and gender inequality in policing and sport, the section hosted a double fixture event which has seen the Women’s first ever match as the main event.

In a bid to foster meaningful conversations crucial for sustainable change, UN Women Pakistan has introduced the thought-provoking podcast series, "Gender Talks". The podcast serves as a dynamic platform amplifying the voices of individuals dedicated to advancing gender equality.

Tecnológico de Monterrey has made history by becoming the first educational institution to join UN Women Mexico’s "Safe Campus for the Prevention of Gender Violence" programme, reinforcing its commitment to the global HeForShe movement and taking a significant stride towards fostering gender equality and preventing violence within its community.

UN Women Zimbabwe Spotlight Initiative released a booklet of Impact Stories to capture voices of the programme beneficiaries and various stakeholders in all five programme districts across Zimbabwe. One of these stories is the story of men as allies in the fight against gender-based violence in the community of Mbire, Zimbabwe.
