Howard University—a preeminent Historically Black College and University (HBCU)—is taking a bold and inspiring lead as the only HBCU in the HeForShe Alliance. Through active engagement, inclusive dialogue, and structured commitments, Howard is shaping what male allyship and gender equality look like in higher education.

This year is extra special as we celebrated a decade of HeForShe, a movement that began in 2014 with a simple yet powerful call: to unite people of all genders as advocates for gender equality. Over the past 10 years, HeForShe has grown into a global force for change, empowering individuals, inspiring leaders, and fostering transformative action in communities worldwide.

Since 2017, UK Policing has been a trusted and steadfast partner of UN Women and HeForShe. Their dedication to advancing gender equality has been evident in their leadership, strategic actions, and their commitment to accountability. In 2021, UK Policing renewed its pledge to the HeForShe Alliance, focusing on three key commitments: addressing gender imbalances in middle management, tackling sexism and misogyny within police culture, and transparently reporting on their progress.

As part of the 2024 WEPs Deep-Dive Webinar Series, UN Women’s WEPs (Women’s Empowerment Principles) and HeForShe organized a webinar titled Private Sector Tackles Violence Against Women Head-On – Emerging Practices. The event highlighted the crucial role businesses play in addressing violence against women and girls.
