Following the 6 February earthquakes in southeast Türkiye, Fenerbahçe Sports Club’s Olympic Boxer and Coach Şennur Demir visited Kahramanmaraş, the epicenter of the earthquakes. During the 11 days she spent in the region, Demir not only supported the work of search and rescue teams, but also delivered emergency supplies needed by women and girls.

Bolivia’s national carnival is the country's biggest event, attracting thousands of visitors from all over the world. This year ONU Mujeres Bolivia is campaigning HeForShe to depatriarchalize their parties and end violence against women.

2022 was a critical year for HeForShe. With an increase in violent conflicts and the reversal of generational gains in women's rights worldwide, HeForShe continues mobilizing men and boys to stand with women, girls, and all genders for a better world for all. As we work towards a more impactful 2023, here are some HeForShe milestones throughout 2022. 

A report highlighting the progress all UK police forces are making towards gender equality has been launched. The fourth annual Gender Equality in UK Policing Report published on Wednesday, November 30th comes in support of the United Nations’ gender equality campaign, HeForShe.

Every police force in the UK has signed up to the initiative, with a pledge to improve gender imbalances that exist at senior levels within policing and to continue to combat domestic and sexual abuse in society.

On November 24, 11 male members of different United Nations System agencies met at the Radisson Hotel in Guatemala City to join the HeForShe initiative. 

According to a recent study by UN Women, at the current pace of change, we will not achieve gender equality for nearly 300 years. Within the context of our global landscape, with growing misogyny and prejudice against women, women's rights are receding worldwide exacerbated by climate change and humanitarian crises. For too long men have been on the sidelines of the gender equality conversation while holding disproportionate power across cultures globally. We need men and boys to act as allies to accelerate gender equality.

The Gambia Scout Association (IGSA) recently trained thirty scout members on gender equality, diversity and inclusion, project and policy development, and gender-based violence. The three-day forum sought to equip participants with the requisite knowledge, skills, and much-needed attitudes to change gender inequality in society.

The Swaziland Network of Young Positives, supported by UN Women, recently implemented a new HeForShe project in the Shiselweni region of Eswatini. The project supports thirty Adolescent Girls and Young Women (AGYW) with a focus on economic empowerment. The project focuses on developing financial independence for AGYW and supports their peers with education and awareness on comprehensive Sexual and Reproductive Health & Rights (SRHR) and gender equality.

Taking the HeForShe movement forward in Pakistan, UN Women Pakistan created a campaign highlighting male allies advocating for gender equality in their communities. One such ally is Dr. Quraish, Assistant Inspector General at KP Police in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. He is considered a pioneer and HeForShe advocate of gender-responsive policing in local communities.
